C&M Seeds / P&H 2005 Malt Barley Program

Varieties:                  Formosa (2 row) and Legacy (6 row)

Regions:                  Formosa - Western Ontario
                                   Legacy - Eastern and Northern Ontario 

Requirements:        Grower must provide proof of varietal identity

-          Proof of certified seed purchased through C&M Seeds dealer network

Contract must be signed at planting time with P&H

-          contract becomes void if barley does not meet malt quality requirements

-          grower is free to use or market sub-quality barley as they wish

Grower must submit a sample at harvest time to P&H at:

                                    Grower must store barley on farm until after testing

Pricing Options:     If sample meets malting barley quality, the following pricing options apply:


1)    
$125/tonne F.O.B. farm at harvest time.

2)     $133/tonne delivered to Palmerston Grain (Formosa only) at   harvest time.

3)     $133/tonne delivered to Tem Ag. Centre in Thornloe (Legacy only) following canola harvest.

4)     $135/tonne F.O.B. farm after December 1st.

Note: $1.50/tonne/month for on farm storage after December 31st. 

The quality criteria are as follows:

  • greater than 95% germination in 4ml of water
  • greater than 80% plump kernels
  • less than 12.5% protein
  • less than 14% moisture
  • pure sample of an approved variety
  • free from mold, mildew, and disease.
