Central/Midwest - Between the 15th and 30th of August.
Seeding Rate - 3 - 4lbs/acre, similar to spring canola rate.

Seed Cost/acre - Kronos, between $45 & $50/acre at a seeding rate between 4.5-5lbs/acre.
Spring Canola (Roundup Ready) between $40 & $45/acre plus $15/acre TUA.
Tillage Options - Most canola is grown under conventional tillage but no-till has shown to be just as effective as well. No-till will conserve soil moisture in the fall if conditions are dry.
Marketing - Will be marketed exactly the same as spring canola. Palmerston Grain current bid as of June 10, 2005 is $400 fob the elevator.
Key Agronomic Points - 31% higher yield index than the official check Arctic in 2001 & 2002 research trials. 17% greater winter survival rating than Arctic in 2001 & 2002 as well. Considered resistant to Blackleg in European trials. No data from Ontario due to dry conditions past couple years. (see Agronomic table on back page for more info).
Rotation Benefits -
1) Spreads out spring workload.
2) Reduces fall compaction due to early harvest in summer.
3) Perfect fit for winter wheat producers. Allows them to get wheat planted
on time in fall following canola, or planting canola on time in fall following
wheat.
